TA 2025 Q&A 1
Dear Crew,
We are sending out a series of communications about the TA to highlight changes and improvements in the TA and to answer crew questions.
Today’s comms answers crew questions that have been submitted to us using our form.
Question #1:
Will this agreement be applied retroactively?
No it will not. This agreement will only be applied at the Date of Ratification aka the day the contract is voted in with a majority “yes” vote.
Question #2:
Can you clarify Standby Pay?
Standby and other non-flying events, get paid in the following structure unless otherwise specified in our contract:
- All non-flying events documented on a CCM’s roster shall be paid/credited three (3) block hours
- Standby, trainings, and meetings shall be paid/credited an additional 0.5 block hours per hour for events longer than six (6) hours.
- Virtual-only events (e.g. trainings, meetings, etc.) shall only be paid/credited 0.5 block hours per hour for the duration of the event.
- Non-flying events that is not considered duty by the authorities (e.g. Reserve) shall not receive pay/credit.
You can find this information in Article 3 Part F.
Here's an Example:
A Crew Member is scheduled from 19.25 on April 6, to 5:25 on April 7 for SBY3. This is equal to 10 hours of Standby.
That crew member would receive 3 block hours for up to 6hrs of standby (19.25-1.25). For the additional 4hrs of standby, you would get paid 0.5 block hours per hour which equals an additional 2 block hours.
Their total standby period would be credited at 5 block hours total for a 10hr standby period.
Important Note:
Non-flying events that share the same duty period as a flying event (e.g., standby) shall not receive pay/credit.
This means that if you were called out of your standby to work a flight, you will not receive standby pay/credit + flight duty pay.
