Do you suspect that a fellow crew member is about to operate a flight while under the influence?

Here are some tips on how to support a safety culture, and save your fellow crew member's career:

  1. Approach them one on one, being mindful of negative body language
  2. Ask them to speak privately, using a respectful and caring tone
  3. Go to a private space and share with them that you are noticing and observing
  4. Offer your flying partner a solution, including options and support
  5. If your flying partner insists on flying, firmly insist that you feel unsafe flying with them and state your intention to communicate this to the Commander for them to decide next steps, while also giving them room to change their minds
  6. Call FADAP and let them know that you are referring a flying partner to them.
