June 2025 Riga Visit
Ayana (from the scheduling committee) and Jhenelle (from the negotiations committee) went to Riga in mid June to continue to work on the roster bidding system and ensuring that the team and system was equipped for this task. It was determined that this system would be implemented on a trial basis and will be in effect for the August Roster.
Jhenelle and members of the scheduling committee have worked in conjunction with crew planning for the past 2 weeks to ensure that all options are offered ensuring that our rostered flights are covered.
August 2025 Roster Bidding
Bidding for August 2025 rosters will take place from July 3-6, 2025. Bidding will begin at 12pm ET on July 3 and end at 12pm ET on July 6.
The information for bidding and lines are available in the union newsletter in your personal email inbox.
The bidding link will be sent tomorrow morning prior to the start of bidding.
Voluntary Leave Survey
We are all aware that the company has discussed a planned reduction in cabin crew across all basis. We currently have heard no further information about this, but as soon as we have facts to share with the crew, we will do so.
In the interim, we are doing a survey to find out if any of our crew may be interested in taking 3-6 months of voluntary leave. This is not guaranteed leave. This survey is only to gauge interest to see if crew may potentially be interested in this option if it is offered by the company.
We ask all crew to fill out this survey: https://forms.gle/n5vbgnJ2DMWttc5FA
Summer Commuting
As we enter the height of summer travel, this can also come with significant delays for commuters trying to get to work.
Summer storms and hurricanes can cause significant weather delays and diversions while commuting into work via air.
An increase in summer travellers may also make it difficult for crew to get seats on standby on flights between their local airport and airports in New York.
People driving/taking the train to work from out of state may also experience significant delays related to weather incidents, an increase in traffic, or extreme temperatures which may cause a reduction in train speed.
We recommend that if crew are commuting to work via air, that they take the first flight of the day to New York to work their pairing, and have accommodations to ensure they are able to rest before their check in time.
Crew travelling via train or car from out of state are recommended to leave earlier than usual to account for any additional delays on the road or slower trains due to extreme weather.
