The AFA Human Rights and Equity Committee is committed to providing the broadest possible representation of our members regardless of age, disability, marital status, national origin, race, religion, differently abled, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. We honor and celebrate the shared humanity of the members in our care. We shall at all times endeavor to promote the principles of tolerance, fairness, equity, justice, respect and inclusion within our Union. It is only when we all band together and work together that we can rally against the walls of division to create a progressive culture that values social and economic justice for all working people.

The Importance of Voting as a Human Right: A Call to Action for Flight Attendants
Prepared by Jackie Cuin, Council 61

"Voting is a fundamental human right, pivotal in shaping our societies and safeguarding our freedoms. It empowers individuals to voice their opinions, influence decision-making, and drive societal change. For flight attendants, this right is not just a personal privilege but a critical tool for advocating for workplace improvements and policies that affect our profession.

As flight attendants, we play a crucial role in ensuring passenger safety and comfort. Our unique perspective on issues ranging from labor rights to aviation safety can significantly impact legislative and regulatory decisions. By voting, we help ensure that your concerns and experiences are represented and addressed.

Many people around the world are unable to vote due to various barriers, including immigration status and past legal issues. Recognizing this, it becomes even more vital to exercise our right to vote and advocate for policies that support all individuals ability to participate in the democratic process.

Every vote counts. It is a powerful means of influencing government policies and decisions that directly affect our profession and the broader community. Whether it’s supporting candidates who champion workers' rights or voting on crucial local issues, our participation makes a difference.

Therefore, take action now: Register to vote if you haven’t already.
Encourage your colleagues to do the same.
Educate others about the importance of voting and how “No Vote is Also a Vote.”

Your vote is a tool for change and a reflection of your values.
Don’t take this right for granted—use it to shape a better future for yourself and your community.
Act now. Vote for a better tomorrow."
